Ok so usually I don't talk about world events on my blog but tonight I can't help it. I have two axes to grind:

1. Yay that Jill Carroll was released today! My axe is with her statement about being treated well by her kidnappers. Uh, hello? They kidnapped you, murdered your interpreter, held a gun to your head while making a videotape, and held you against your will for months. These people are animals and she makes them look heroic when she says she was treated well. Puke. Perhaps she is in denial. Thank God she was released though. That's the important thing. Too bad not eveyone had the same fate...

2. Barry Bonds. Okay he's a big cheater-head. We all know that, but does Congress really have to get involved in it? I mean, come on, don't they have bigger fish to fry? Jeezy-peezy....

In closing, I just have to say that I am going to be SO SORE tomorrow. I got my office painted today and I think it looks terrific!!! I'm just not used to all the bending and stooping to reach the ceiling, paint along woodwork, etc. I did managed to finish without making a mess on my refinished hardwood floors. Tomorrow I'll put all the furniture back where it goes. I ordered wood blinds for my house today, too. I shopped around and priced Home Depot and some online places. I decided to go with justblinds.com. My aluminum blinds are filthy beyond cleaning, they don't match my walls, and some of them are rusted so I used those excuses to rationalize replacing them....and if I'm going to spend the money to replace them, I may as well get what I really want. Right? I just hope I measured my windows right. I followed the directions carefully and checked my work 4 times to be sure.

Well, G'nite!

Helloooo, Chill-dren!

Is anybody else out there mourning the loss of Chef from South Park? He was my favorite character, as I think I mentioned in a previous post. I watched South Park tonight sans Chef, and it's just not the same. I'm in search for a coffee mug with his picture on it.

Well I'm off the next 4 days. I went in for ophthalmology clinic this morning, and after we saw 3 patients, my resident told me I could go home. "Oh and by the way, I won't be here the rest of the week so just come back Monday...." "Uh, okay", (trying to hide my elation). Now I can paint tomorrow. I'm painting my extra bedroom-turned-office/music studio taupe. I'm also going to paint my kitchen orangish-red, but I'll save that for another day when my resident lets me slack off again.

OK so today I showed up at 8am for my ophthalmology rotation. I sat for an hour through Grand Rounds, then hung out in the cafeteria for an hour with some classmates while the residents had a meeting. At 10am I went to my assigned clinic with one of the other med students. I don't know if it was because it was Monday or what, but the residents were in no hurry to get started. They chatted with us a few minutes about what residency we are starting. When I told them I matched into anesthesia, one of them said, "oh anesthesia. You won't ever be doing anything with the eyes other than taping them shut. Why don't you just go on home and come back on Wednesday at 8:30". Cool!! Now here's the funny/unfair part. When they found out the other med student matched into family medicine, he had to stay. I felt kind of bad, but not bad enough to insist on staying.

Perhaps I should be embracing this last bit of medical school education while I still can.

NAW!!!!!! I went home and took a long nap.
